I'm having a problem with mine, it will route me past truck stops and rest areas a then off the interstate back on then back to the TS or RA, can anyone tell me if there is a setting that will stop this?

I've had this unit for several months now and for the most part, bluetooth etc all work fine.
not sure why this unit has me leaving major roadways to cut thru cities, with narrow roads, traffic and stop lights only to rejoin the highway i was already on.
just yesterday making a delivery in troy ny after crossing the hudson the first exit after the bridge was the street the stop was on
yet the 760 had me going straight thru a tunnel, then turning right on a street that no truck should be on, then another right only be on that first street
and after leaving the stop it had me take a left basically down and ally ( which i didn't) then a right to rejoing the road that i was already on.
not very truck friendly i set the tractor and trailer length ( 53ft Trailer) just not sure why it would it route me down these side streets -
I would guess you have something configured wrong or have it set for shortest route?
There are times it tries to get you to do something stupid but if it's doing it all the time, something's amiss. -
The only thing I can think of is that sometimes there is some data which causes it to think you need to go around something, like a low clearance, or restriction. -

What I have observed on the 560 is that those times you get a crazy route to a simple destination, it's usually avoiding an "unknown" route in favor of one with no data. It can also result from the difference between a location's business address versus a truck entrance that may be around a corner or on an unmapped access road easier to reach another way.
It's a level of mapping detail that will likely never be fixed. Always best to plan your route with a regular map of some sort and be prepared to override the gps instructions in those areas.moosc, STexan and Zen Trucker Thank this. -
I have it set for fastest route, so that cant be it
it was certainly faster to take the first exit to the right travel 1/2 mile down the road than those two rights.
the truck dock was on that same road.
normally what i do is check it against google maps, satellite view to get a good picture of the building and docks
and any restrictions that garmin thinks is there.
just didn't happen to do it this time, usually its not a problem when i have a 48ft or flatbed but the 53's can sometimes be a bear -
Flightline Thanks this.

Had one of those occasions last night. Going to Moorefield, WV via I-81 from the south. Garmin trying to route me the long way (abt 50 mi out of route) via US-48. Reason? On the shorter route via VA/WV-259, there is an incorrect bridge weight limit about 15mi into the route. gps thinks it's 32T. Would have been ok since I was about 32T anyway. I don't update my truck weight on every load, just have it set to max. The bridge was actually marked for weights by axles. 32T was for 4 axles, 40T ok for 5.
I went my way and the gps tried routing me on every goat path off the 259 along the way until there weren't any more. Crossed the bridge and the warnings vanished, routing back to almost normal. Got to be smarter than the tool.
