Well I been using google maps for 7 years. I’ve never hit a bridge. Going down no truck route is one thing. I’m terminal to terminal but when I was not I’d get directions from customer and run google maps. Google didn’t route me way I needed to go I’d add a stop to force it that way or I’d pass exit and get off what customer said and it usually was spot on.

I tried those truck ones. Rand are junk. Garmin was ok but for the money they cost google maps works just as good and has great traffic and satellite view and street view.

Anyone bought one of these yet?. They are pretty new and not much first hand user reviews out there.

Does it have an updated cpu processor or faster? That's my main concern.

I'm hoping to find some more info before I buy one. There are a couple YouTube videos out there, but they don't really get into the actual usage. One video spends forever showing you what comes in the box. Not really useful as the Garmin site already lists that stuff.

I had the 570 and it was trash, constantly rebooting while I was driving. Eventually the power connector got loose and it wouldn’t charge. I tried to open it up in an attempt to fix it and broke a bunch of wires trying to get it open.

Got the 580 and night and day difference, never reboots.

What I have noticed about the “lifetime maps and traffic” is that while they may update the roads, the don’t update the truckstops, rest areas, and other service destinations. You have to always buy the newer model to get those updated.

    Redtwin Thanks this.

have you added the price of your device in? Obviously not. How long before phone over heats and shuts down in window. How much loss of battery life and performance do you lose over time. Sorry an app for an expensive devise not designed for the stresses of continuous use is not free.

Note too.. it doesn’t cover low over passes, priority routing or averaged stop times.

Oh nor does it cover road restrictions for large vehicles and all of this is only the beginning.

believe and enjoy your choice, my choice is a dedicated gps to meet my needs. Yours may not be the same.

    have a great day

I guess if you run in certain areas, Google might almost kinda sorta get you there, but if you run Chicago, New England et al you'd better man up and get a Garmin
