I have sight glass on my valves and tank fitting. Also I can hear it when it’s emptying wether it’s gravity drop or pumping it off. Gravity drop there is a whoosh as air and liquid flows out. The pump changes sound when it is pumping air.

I always check the site glass… pick up the hose a few times if you’re unsure. Make sure your internals are open and you’ve opened your valve for that compartment… The other way to know is when you drop the hose the tank should echo.

If the sight glass is empty, and you're still concerned, climb up on top. Thats the only way. If you are using a manifold you can accidentally refill a compartment slightly through gravity. Always close the belly valve before opening another one when using the manifold.
