I just finished school myself and if those are your choices I would def go with Roehl although if you went to a PTDI school you might check out Crete. Thats who I think im going with and they just raised their starting pay for new drivers to .34 then .41 after your first year. just fyi. good luck with whoever you decide.

The IL Star (red) is not the same as the Nashville Star (blue). The Nashville Star is the one you want to stay away from. Definately stay away from Werner.

to each his own,but i actually didnt do bad at werner...id say theyre on of the better companies as far as how new their trks are, maintenance, mechanics. they do have some good dedicated accounts, and they even do offer a "local" of sorts in some areas,as well as regional.
theyre an otr company,so dispatch and freight is similar in that it depends on your manager, your attitude and the amount of freight available as to how well you do as far as the money.
more than most otr carriers offer. -
Thanks for all your input. After doing more research on my own and speaking to each company, I have 65 questions I ask them, and taking into account what you all have said plus what I have read on this forum I leaning towards Roehl or Garner.
I've been hitting up a few truck stops and talking to some truckers so that help also. -

This site has been a great help to me as well as the comments good and bad made about some of the companies in other threads.
After doing a lot of research I've come down to deciding between Garner, out of Findlay, OH and MCS, out of Northwood, OH.
The things that were highly important in my deciding were:
- home time
- length of training
- rate of pay
- average time out
MCS I can be home every 2 to 3 days for my 10hr off plus weekends
Garner I can be home every weekend
home time is important to me having 2 kids in high school.
They both have things the other doesn't offer but making my choice now has been simplified. -
Son of a Trucker......... What is a PDTI school, I'm not up on the lingo.

I'd go with Werner every day of the week before CR England, which I know wasn't on your list, but the other's posting are correct IMO, Roehl would be my top pic and Werner at the bottom.

PTDI professional truck driving institute - basically means that the school is certified and licensed and teaches a set curriculum. Some companies will only hire from schools like this because they know what you should have been taught in order to pass. Not to say that schools that are not PTDI certified are bad either.

Go with Rhoel. I am attending their school right now and I am liking it. They limit the class size to 6 people. My class is only 4 people. The staff here is great. They got much better home time than any other company. As far as U.S. Xpress, those automatic trucks will mess you up. STAY AWAY from Werner!
