Here it goes. I'am 26yrs old almost 27 married no kids yes! soon tho. I have been Driving for 10yrs Commerical non-class regular driver licence. Within 10 years my experience has been driving for my father business since 2001 and I was driving P/T UPS since 2006 til the end of 2010. BUT between all of that last year I decided to get my Class A which I got in the beginning of 2010. Left UPS at the end of 2010 cause the center was small and it would have taken me 5-7 more years to see F/T there enough said there. Also left UPS cause I'm currently utilizing my Commerical licence but its my Class B for the past 5 months at a local job where I live now.

FORGOT to add- I do like to drive if you can tell with what I have in exp. I know its not cross country but I like to see things when I drive.

NOW- I want to go BIGGER Class A BUT local Companies want you to have 1-2 yrs of Class A driving which I can understand. So I'am thinking about doing OTR Team Driving with a Friend for a couple of years. I have a some questions to ask.

    1. Can me and my friend do Team driving together.

    2. If so, what Companies out there will be the best fit for US.

    3. I have the Class A licence on the other hand he doesn't so we need a company to get him his Class A licence.

For Question 3 he will get his permitt before going in the class is that a smart way to go?

Yes you can team with a friend but keep in mind teams usually stay out even longer than single drivers. Not sure if this is going to be an issue with you or not. Probably better to wait on the permit because if the company you are interested in isn't located in the same state you are you will have to get a learners permit issued in their state. You cannot leave your state with a learner's. Try and stay away from the mega-carrier's. If you are going to run team though you don't to go with a really small company either. Companies like Central Ref are large enough to keep teams busy yet still small enough to treat you like human beings instead of a number. Good luck to you!

TY for the Info but is there other companies out there that are good for team driving. Not saying Central Ref isn't good but like to see about others. Also would you know if they seperate us for the training aspect then after that let us go out on the road together as a team?

Snider is one of the highest paying and best team companies out there. One of the best of the big companies if not the best. They shut down there schools, reopen them shut them down ets.. I have heard though. Also I have heard they are reall particular about who they take. If you can get a job there jump on it at all cost and avoid the headache bull sheet you will face if you go to a mega carrier like crengland, swift, central, prime, crst, covenant ets. Avoid those schools I mentioned like the plague. They will get you nowhere. There recruiters are the navy seals of used car salesmen though. If you talk to any one of there recruiters it will be very hard to say no. There recruiters are the best of the best of the very best at lieng to people and telling them what they want to hear. Dont even call them. Even somewhat intelligent people can easily fall for there scams.

Dont know. Funny reason I responded to this. Met this psyco in laredo yard last week. Had to get recalled oil filter replaced from last PM and anual truck inspection. Hanging around my truck pokin the mechanic for bits and pieces of info. Here comes this guy wanting to know how long before bay would upen up. Lease operator like hard core psyco for real psyco. Caught my attention right away. Immiatly walked up to me and started BSing. Quite interesting fellow. Maby 15 minuts into it the conversation goes into the parking area away from everybody. He tells me quite a storie about how he is going to slide his beutiful crengland lease truck off the road, and basically walk away from it. This guy been thinking about it for a very very long time. He had every and I mean every detail figured out. Probley half hour for him to tell it all to me. Just great stuff. After spending most of the day with him, I came to the conclusion that I would bet the family farm that he is actually going to do it, if I had one to bet.

To the point. He has a relative who works for us express. Swears they are the greatest trucking company int he wole world??? I have heard really nothing good about them on the forum. But I have talked to a few drivers for them who love it. I have been to there yard a few times, to pick up freight. Being I work for crengland who competes with them and really does almost no busines with them, I was very suprised at there hospitality tward me. Our yard is your yard basically. Everybody there was really happy and cool. Wich is different becouse at crengland everyone is friggen miserable and does nothing but badmouth crengland myself included. A lot of women, probley becouse most of there trucks are automatics?? I dont know. I know they are still at the bottom of trucking companies though. When I leave crengland I will go to a company much higher up. Which I should have already done by now, just its so hard to get a good answere anywhere about which companies are good, bad, or great. Or any good info at all on who are really the best. Why I am still where I am. Same boat as you. Still friggen clueless.
