Unfortunately, I don't want to join the military. I want to stay right here in NH, and the military doesn't really allow for that. Plus, I know I will not pass the physical fitness requirements. I have a bad left knee that will never be good enough for running.

Yeah, I think I would also prefer the heavy equipment (it looks like so much fun, except cranes...I am scared of heights!!), but my reasoning was if I could get on as a dump driver with a construction company, then I would be able to get into the heavy machines from there. I figure it is easier to get on as a truck driver than operating heavy equipment.

In maine here we have a cheaper driving school tha is a small family owned one. The name of it is Skowhegan Truck Driving School, they are cheaper than most for class a or b,i would go for it all, then you can go on to bigger and better things without having to do it again later, give them a call, its not far from n.h. and would be worth getting a motel here at the money you would save.

Buck is right, if you can get your class A at around the same Price as a class B go for the Class A then you can drive any vehicle. The difference will be the amount of time it takes you get Class A (6wks to 480 hrs) Class B( 80 hrs or on job taining School bus). Best of Luck
