hi swifties. long time lurker, first time thread starter.

i finally managed to get home, only six days after my requested date. i park my rig, send a message to the pod, and promptly get a phone call telling me that if i want to spend more than 1 day at home i have to turn in my tractor. i did manage to talk the dm into giving me 48 hrs., but i had 4 days coming to me. i was told that this is a new policy implemented two weeks ago, though this phone call was the first i heard about it. for me, turning in my tractor means driving 90 miles each way to fontana, and having to do that twice for a cost to me of nearly $100 every time i go home. not to mention having to clean the trucker stink out of a new rig every time i go back on the road. needless to say i was rather miffed at the news.
just wondering if anybody else has heard of this policy?

Yeah friend of mine just "tested out" and his new dm told him the same. A lot of drivers waiting and cycling out trucks is what they told him.

i'd advise your DM that if swift wants you to clean out the truck, of what the cost involved to you is....then swift would have to reimburse you for said costs, or you weren't going to 'clean it out'. Having to PAY to go home, is just totally F-ed up.....

Oh geez, I'm on my way home after 3 weeks out, 1 day home isnt even a 34 reset. If they tell me this crap, I am most likely going to clean out the truck once, and call another company. No way in hell am I going to clean out my truck and wait for a new one every month.

AAAHHHH! Nothing like driving for the mega-carriers. Get used to it they make their rules as they go along. Also varies from DM to DM. Good luck with that.

I guess I need a life. this is the first time I have been home since 12/4/10. I don't turn my truck in when I want home time either. that is just dumb. I know it is company rules but you just got the thing comfortable and they want you to change trucks. I'm not a smoker so get another truck with the posibility of it being smoked in would just piss me off

Job scared newbies will tolerate it. I am willing to bet you have to sit in a terminal and wait days for another truck too.
