You know why they're taking more and more freedom from us and putting more EOBR's in trucks? BECAUSE OF GUYS LIKE YOU WHO DON'T LIKE TO PLAY BY THE RULES. I guess the FMCSA got tired of guys getting into accidents thinking they could run 17-18 hour days. Get outta here with your crap, bro. You don't like e-logs? Don't put them in your truck. Problem solved and mind your own business.

Because while I was off duty, my clock was still ticking. I got in and only had about a 10 minute window to get to where I needed to be instead of the 30 minute window I had before and I knew there was construction ahead that would slow me down. So I just stayed off duty and got a 30 minute break.

Well, I have to agree that you're right in the sense that us drivers need to take a stand on things. And I know my post probably came off as harsh, and for that I apologize. I had no right to automatically assume that you falsify your logs. However, your post did come off as a bit rude as well, and that's why I got so defensive.

BUT, those who DO falsify their logs are the reason why we have e-logs to begin with. Now personally, I love my e-logs. No one can force me to drive unsafely. When my day is done, it's done, and no one can say otherwise. I like that.

And Maverick is not a "babysitter" company. It is NOT easy to get hired here, and they have very high standards. I'm paid more here (.42 per mile before bonuses) with a year's experience than one of my family members who has been driving for 23 years. There is not a single company that I have talked to that would pay me anywhere near what Maverick does.

Now, I agree with the whole big brother thing. I think that, in general, the government is way too involved in things they should leave alone, and not involved enough in things they should be involved in. But, at the same time, I agree with and support some form of restriction on how much a CMV operator can drive and work. The HOS as they stand are a complete mess. But anyone with any sense knows that there has to be some kind of restriction, otherwise you're going to get aggressive companies that force their drivers to work for too long, or you're going to get stupid drivers who want to make a few extra cents by working too long and they're gonna end up killing MY family in the process.

So, I agree with saying "no to BS" if you're referring to the complete mess that the FMCSA has managed to implement. But there has to be some oversight, both to protect us and the public.

I think the confusion here is about the 8 hour clock itself. That clock starts counting down from when you go on duty, and continues counting down until you take that break. It doesn't stop when you stop driving. If I stop for only 20 minutes, then that 8 hour clock keeps ticking during that 20 minutes, and only resets if I stop for at least 30 minutes. At least, on my Qualcomm it's constantly ticking from the moment I go on duty. Going off duty doesn't stop it unless I'm off duty for 30 minutes or more.

Can't really argue with that, but absent the ban hammer, the bile will continue to flow.

Yep with tattle tales on your truck. Now go run tired while i take a nap. When you kill someone or get fired for a service failure maybe you will snap out of your company brainwashing.

how many company drivers never see the house, but when they do.... there is so much to catch up on around home that they are too tired and dangerious on the 14 hour clock.

And dont tell me you have never bsed your start time when the consignee wakes you up and then screws you around for a few hours. i am sure you have still had the occasional 17-20 hour day if you felt safe to do it.
