Good luck to you, no way my wife and I would ever get along in the same confined space for any period of time.

Something tells me you'll do fine!

The only truck the gave me problems reaching the pedals while still seeing over the dash was my Pete, the others...Volvos and Freightliners seemed to have designed their trucks with smaller people in mind lol. I don't think swift has the Pete anyway. If she needs the clutch adjusted they should be able to do that for her. Best thing she can do is learn to " float " ASAP. Much less footwork involved. Best of luck!

Blog your experience going through school I would enjoy hearing how it all works out.

I actually went through Swift's driving academy in Richmond, VA. Despite what you may have heard, thanks to the Millington school, the one in Richmond was actually pretty decent. If you couldn't drive at the end of it, you really didn't need to be in a big truck. They were pretty good about teaching for the most part, and had a good feel for who needed to repeat a week and who didn't. As an example, on the last roadtest before graduation I actually screwed up and missed a gear. Had to stop the rig in the middle of a turn coming off of a highway exit. Blocked a few cars until I got it back into gear and rolling again. The instructor that was with me just looked at me. At that point I knew I had failed. This was about halfway through the test with some more difficult stuff coming up. So anyway, long story short, I blew through the rest of the test no problem. At the end I just got out and said to the guy, "Guess I'll see ya next week." He said, "Why? Aren't you going home after you graduate?" He passed me. He said he knew full well I could drive the truck just fine, especially with how I handled it on the 2nd half and that it was obvious the mistake I made was nerves. I had handled the rest of the situation just fine, got the truck back in gear without panicking, and got on down the road, which is just what you are supposed to do when you make a mistake.
Anyway, Swift as a company can be kind of crappy, but it's not a bad place to get your foot in the door. And the school in Richmond was pretty good. Not sure about the others, but I know the one in Millington had some pretty huge issues running illegals through it.TruthisTreason Thanks this. -
Thanks for all of the replies! I'll certainly be documenting the process. I have several major websites that I run on a daily basis, so they'll be written in article format for you all to enjoy!
Cheers, and thanks again. We're confident that this is a step in the right direction. Now, if we can just get those CDLs!
