I agree this business is not for everyone I work local with my own truck and I am almost never home I have a two year old and one on the way . I get up at 4 am and home maybe by 6 -8 lucky if early...have friends over the road they don't have time to stop and enjoy them selves one thing I like about owner op is I can do so as I please no dispatch yelling down your neck... Now I heated of two companies that pay the best is Walmart (surprising). And Tyson chicken company great benefits really good to driver . This is what drivers have told me that I talk to at truck stops. The road gets lonely but love what you do and it only makes it greater... And be careful of the diesel bug that goes around once it goes in your blood it never comes out.....
Good luck there your kids what you see fit is your business.... As long as there not abused... But I agree with one said go on a trip in he car long distance and make hat you have to be point b by a certain date and time... Now make it unrealistic and wake up at 2 am with drop off crazy time and see if yo two can handle that... Cause that's what this job is.... Un realistic .... But we have the best office view ...... Our office window see more beauty and tragity but remember these trucks are not toys... It's a culture not a job so live by the old timers that did this before... A lot of people have forgotten the code or conduct and it's a shame.....

I don't see it as "pushing off your kids". I see it as having to do what needs to be done. Good thing you have a loving family that will take the responsibility.
Don't know much about Covenant, are you set on them? Lots of options for team drivers these days.BriDan07, TruckDuo, joseph1135 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I have to disagree. Money can't replace time missed out on with your kids. To each their own I guess.
lfod14, Wild Murphy, TruckDuo and 1 other person Thank this. -
Let's not turn this into a discussion of parenting, please. If you're not interested in offering support for a prospective new team, just skip the thread and move on to something else.
BriDan07, Mastertech, Lonesome and 7 others Thank this. -
Husband and Wife teams are a hot commodity so that's a plus for you. Covenant is a decent company. You and the hubby can train in the same truck if you want.

I bet your glad you are receiving so much parenting advice that had nothing to do with your questions. Welcome to trucking where everyone is an expert at everything. My mom and step dad worked for Cvnt they liked it there if I remember correctly. You have to start somewhere and it's 6 of one half dozen of the other when it comes to van frieght. Good luck to you.
bullhaulerswife and TruckDuo Thank this. -
Well maybe they should have left the part out about ditching their kids if they didn't want hear what a crappy selfish idea that is.. If your going to bring it to a public forum be prepared to take the heat..
If they can't take the heat, then maybe they need to rethink what they are doing which I think would be a good idea..
I'll be the first to say I don't play the politically correct BS..77smartin, Wild Murphy, Dark_Majesty_06 and 3 others Thank this. -

I don't team with my wife because it would interfere with my womanizing.
