It may very well be the case low rate freight isn't getting covered however as a small business owner I can not afford to eat the cost of moving freight below my operating costs.
Schneider being a multi billion dollar a year company can afford to move freight at those rates.... if not they have the leverage of negotiating better rates where I do not.
If they want those cheap loads moved and that is what the new agreement is meant to do be honest and guarantee a minimum to haul said loads.
In my opinion it's more a power move to be able to gain back control over IC's who have figured out a way to play the game and find ways to be profitable and not haul cheap freight.
It's also a cost cutting move by Making IC's move mt trailers for them and not having company trucks do it.
Just my opinion.
