Regional - Mostly Southern states - home time varies, but usually home several nights per week depending on where you live.

System - 48 states and CA if you want to go to CA. Usually out 7-10 days at a time. Home time is flexible.

Dedicated - Have both long and short dedicated runs. Home time varies with the length of the load.

Local - Usually do not go over 150-200 miles, home most nights.

Hi: Anyone know the waiting period for getting on TS's Health Insurance - immediate, 30, 60, or 90-days? Thanks.

I spent a couple of hours hanging out/snooping around in the drivers room at their Loudon Tn terminal while a tank was being washed out. They seemed like some pretty good people. They were running a crap load of Fructose Corn Syrup to Pepsi and Coke all over the southeast. Had the loads posted on the wall.

I was also impressed with how they do driver recruitment. They call it a mentoring program. The referring driver gets money for each step in the process up to $1000 the first year. They then get money each time that driver reaches a mileage total up to $5,000 in 5 years. They are encouraged to give them their phone number and be available to help answer questions.

I also saw a driver filling out a form on a dropped trailer where he had to write tire pressure for each tire in a little drawing of the trailer. I wouldn't like that extra paper work but don't like grabbing trailer with flat tires either.

I interviewed with Transport Service a couple weeks ago. The terminal manager was a really nice man (I rarely use the term nice when referring to people!) who i felt i could work quite well with. The pay was right in line with the rest of the tanker companies, benefits check, everything was acceptable - heck you weren't even permitted to park the truck at home.

Deal killer for me was 90-days of service before benefits kick in. If it wasn't for that I would be working for TSC.

FYI, TSC is part of the Kenan Advantage Group (KAG). They are a big company with a lot of operating groups.
