Back in the day a Cummins reman head was around $250 with a good core. Just doing a quick search they can be had for around $600, Might be worth a thought. Before I did all that I would pull the oil pan and pressure test to make sure there are no liner o-rings leaking.

    Binderdavemays1 and bjytech Thank this.

How much coolant is getting in the oil? Remove the injectors and pressurise the cooling system with a cooling system pressure tester to about 10 psi. if a cup is leaking you will see it. The oil cooler o-rings could be leaking or the o-rings on the cylinder liners.

    Ok overhead is complete
Turns out I have a 1984 9670 with a 1979 ntc 350 bc in it, who knew lol.
No antifreeze or diesel in oil but it only ran 10 minutes with new oil in it.
Dropping the oil pan to inspect internals
Now. Anyone tell me if rocker box covers have a torque specification please?
Also motor still turns over great by starter but not by hand at all no idea why.
