Getting hired on at US Foods in AZ, jumped through all the hoops and have a start date, I currently have a Florida CDL and HR wants me to get an AZ CDL no later than 30 days of my start date. Question is do I really have to, or is HR just misinformed?
New job asking me to get an in state CDL, do I have to?

Your CDL must match your legal residence. If you are living in AZ, she is correct.
JReding, Kj12606, Eddiec and 1 other person Thank this. -
Most every state requires you to move your CDL within 30 days of beginning to live in the state. You can certainly do an internet search to verify if Arizona has such a 30 day requirement. -
So, do you now live in AZ?
Kj12606 Thanks this. -
Kj12606 and Wasted Thyme Thank this.

Also very funny how the state consisted
You a resident if you live there for 30 days ,
Unless you’re attending college and want the in state tuition rate . Then you have to live there 366 days to be considered a resident .Kj12606 Thanks this. -
So the way it was explained to me by the AZ MVD, is that once I start working in AZ then I’m “intending to claim legal residency of the state and would need to transfer the out of state CDL within 30 days”. Was also told I’d need to show 2 forms of proof of residency (utility bill, lease agreement, etc) and 2 real ID compliant forms of ID. So I’m going to start the process now and get ahead of things. Sorrry for not being more transparent, hope this clears things up.

If you rent a place in AZ and move there, you for sure need an AZ CDL
I work three months a year in California and even I probably need to get a california CDL by the bookKj12606 Thanks this. -
