I was referring not to swift but as to the industry trend

I talking to this paralegal I was wondering more how it applied to a company I used to be least to as this was a change on there part

she did mention that swift pays about 60k for a truck though and sells it for about double

to those that think it is by all means (again not swift) it is not sometimes a high degree of coercion involved in these there is
I had a couple lease trucks and in the middle of the contract they get bought out by mega corp comes in throws a new contract on the table and say sign or hit the bricks it becomes a choice of sign or bankruptcy sometimes as they will try there best ruin you if you quit

indentured servetude was a contract as well that don't mean it was right

OSHA doesn't get involved in labor disputes.

I can understand that a person may want to be his or her own boss, to the degree that any O/O can be, with the ability to take their own truck and lease onto any company they want to.

What I can't understand is why so many would consider a L/O deal with any company, given all the negatives that one can find, not only on forums like this, but also in the trucking press.

In fairness, I know 2 drivers who got their trucks that way, but it was years ago, through companies that were O/O only companies. If I remember correctly, a driver had to have 3 years exp with a single company or 5 years with no more than 3 companies, before they would talk to you.

Nowadays, I think most of these L/O deals are as bad as the scams that turn up on the internet, saying you've been chosen to help save someones fortune. In fact, shelling out the money for that scam would be cheaper than the L/O scam.:biggrin_25523:
