Thank you for the welcomes guys. I am about half an hour north of Madison. I would be willing to travel to Madison. I would like a driving job were I am home every night or almost every night. I am thinking about doing OTR to get that experience but I'm not sure if I would like it.

Roehl was talking about doing a dairyland fleet for awhile, not sure if that went anywhere but it might be worth a look. They also used to run a dedicated run from Minneapolis to Chicago with 2 drivers. One guy would pick in Chicago and relay around Portage and the other would take it to Minneapolis, reload and relay back in Portage. Good luck to ya, I'm sure you'll find something.

If I do OTR as a company driver, they pay for the fuel and everything else right? I would just have to pay for my food and personal stuff? Can someone also explain what exactly a lease is? As far as I know a lease is where you have to be a company driver for a certain amount of time. Anyone?

Yes, as at OTR company driver, they pay for the fuel etc, and you pay for your personal stuff.

Don't think about a lease until you have some time as a company driver. Leasing is the same thing as being in business for yourself. You need to understand the biz before you jump into something like that.

The short version is that it's like leasing a car, and you have a chance to be in biz for yourself. Some companies will try to push you into a lease right away, and others will require you to be a company driver for awhile. There are a few members on here that are L/O's and doing well for themselves. Injun is one that I know of for certain. She's a L/O with Swift.

Thank you Lilbit! That is what I was thinking the company driver thing was. I do not want to sign any lease. If I went to a company like C.R. England would they want me to sign a lease? I wouldnt want to take the refresher course and them try to push me into signing a lease. I am very interested in just doing the company driver gig. Oh and I did not realize you are in Fall River, I am not far from there.
