    No...but you won't see a road train loading 150k of pulp wood five miles into the woods during the dead of winter and havingto chain up just to get to a paved road...

    Back in the late 70's an Indiana newspaper accused the Governor of looking the other way as the Michigan "Trains" ran across the In. Tollroad. Needless to say In. started weighting on the Tollroad. They popped a couple of those guys with 200k on the deck. Kind of changed the picture out there.

    How do the trucks take that much weight for so many miles? Are they really that well built? I'm sure they stop on a dime when those 4 wheelers cut you off and slam on the brakes.

    The trailer takes most of the beating. The truck only really needs to have a driver with common sense. Some have the heavier drivelines in them.

    Funny thing about them sleds, they are hard to axle the weight correctly. Most times they are over on an axle or two, or three.:biggrin_25523:

    Not hard to do when your only allowed 13k per axle. They look like a maintenance nightmare to me. I know it can be a PITA to keep 2 lift axles working correctly. Some of those valves don't like cold weather, nothing like trying to make a turn when you realize the front lift didn't dump and you spin out in the intersection in beautiful downtown Dearborn.:biggrin_25523:

    When I cash my weekly paycheck at the currency exchange, due to the economy, I get it in gold instead of dollars.

    I need that many axles to haul all of it to the place I bury it...

    Thats why I like my control valves in the truck.....:biggrin_25525:

    I actually had one malfunction on me in summer, nothing the hammer couldn't loosen up, but hell to turn!

    Mine are air controlled in the truck but the 4-way and relay valve's are mounted on the trailer. Called Mac to order a new one and they switched from Norgren to Parker valves because the Norgren valves are known to stick on cold weather! :biggrin_25523:
