buying a truck is one thing, having the capital to run it is a different thing that sinks many dreams quickly.
I know you will ignore that advice but hell ...
so near me is a lot where there is a lot of trucks parked and it has a few little offices leased out to some businesses. I go to one of those little offices to visit one other fleet owner when I want a free lunch, his wife is a great food which she always has every day. He has a neighbor in that little complex that is a former small fleet. the guy went belly up because the owner just bought a truck, got one driver, then another driver and another and decided to be stupid and get two more trucks, then more drivers and one of the trucks crapped out which cost $25k to fix and then two drivers quit with one abandoning the truck in a place where it was vandalized in south west Detroit, and the other was trashed when it was being used for 14th avenue overflow work, the broke down truck is sitting there waiting for the owner to pay the shop for the parts because the checks all bounced.
The mistake the owner made was the simplest one, he wasn't a driver before he bought the truck. Be a driver, driver for at least a few years, five is better, learn the markets, learn the lanes, learn local work and how to price your services. and learn how to say NO.feldsforever Thanks this. -
