What kind of trucks did you drive over the years? Why do you want to switch now from company driver to o/o?
I am afraid that if you have not learned anything about being o/o after 20 years of driving, it won't be a good idea to start your own gig nowMysticHZ and Roberts450 Thank this. -
Shouldn't be too complicated since you want to stay local.
Day cab or sleeper truck?

I made a lot of money napping in my bunk 14 miles from the houseblack_dog106, Brettj3876, D.Tibbitt and 2 others Thank this. -
Are you going to be running dry van, reefer, flatbed, stepdeck, oversize, intermodal, roll off, tanker, hazmat in mountains or on flatland? There's an insane amount of variables in what you intend to haul and in what terrain.
Define the intended work to be performed and the general region and people will probably quickly respond with real world experience as to what works for them.
As it is, I recommend you get an acert powered super 10 with 18spd.D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -

I just wanted to point out for the potential O/O that there isn't a single answer for his extremely broad question. Without knowing the intended use of the truck we can't give our input in a useful manner.
