Just wanted to ask for some input. I want to know what are some of the better companies to lease on to. I'm done with living on the road. I'm not interested In making as much money as I can. I don't have much in terms of bills. I just want to make good money and I want to run when I want. Or not if I don't want. Thx. By the way I live in Columbus Ohio and I also have a tanker endorsement.

Schneider, Mercer, USA Truck, Roadrunner, JB Hunt, to name a few. There's probably more good info already been posted and can be accessed via the search function.

lf you like flatbed trucking Bennett would let you go where you want and take off as much as you wanted, land star was the same but had vans also.

If you want time off, you might want to find a company that pays the insurance on your tractor out of their percentage they take off the top .

that way you’re not losing money going negative every week for insurance payment when you’re not working.

    slow.rider Thanks this.

Have you checked intermodal? I hauled rail cans with my own truck for almost 5 years, and did okay, maybe an overnight, but was home as much as I wanted to be. I know there's lots of rail freight in Ohio. Chinatown can give you some names, but I did okay.

    Is that even a thing?
I haven’t heard or looked for a company like that but it would seem that your truck insurance would have to be paid each month
Otherwise you could sit 3 months and the company would be covering a $1000 month bill ( or whatever your insured for ) out of their pocket which would seem to be a bad plan for the company

I currently do have cargo insurance that I pay by the mile and a new company I’ve been talking with covers that outbid theirs but both of these cases I would still have to cover my personal truck and trailer no matter what amount of time I was off
