when you find ray, you can ask him

All good points made here, however good paying company jobs where the employer actually lets the driver do his thing and is not more concerned about putting on a show for the shareholders and safety department image are getting to be few and far between. Even the good unionized jobs arent what they once were. Teamsters have really backed down over the years. I was glad to see the 250 UPS drivers who stood together in NYC win that fight. But not to derail the thread, being an ownwer operator gives the person the freedom to take a winter off if he chooses or find his own niche and work and his own pace without having to answer to anyone. Makes a lot of sense for someone who is business savy and a go getter.

Wow, can't get much more simplistic than this.

I'm not Ray either but no one told me how to do it. Had to learn the hard way almost go broke trying, that being said I'm not against helping anybody but I do believe in let the competition learn some things on their own.
I don't lay under mine all weekend, rarely am out more than 2 nights at a time. When a motor or tranny pukes and the driver screams fix it at me or one of my mechanics at the shop I fire his rear on the spot. I'm not saying I or we didn't work ourselves to death to get here or stay here we do. Its not all about the all mighty dollar although they don't hurt. -
it would drive me insane, if i knew the load paid $1500, and as a company driver, all i got was $180, before taxes
the FUEL costs more than me,
and if my company truck got 7.5mpg and the company got a 5% fuel break, that fuel cost about $225, plsu my $180, means the company made $1100cabwrecker Thanks this. -
Wrong. I get 24% of the load, my cut would be $360.00 Now divide that by 450 miles and I get $.80 a mile. I already know I have it better then most company drivers that is why I don't feel the need to buy my own job, I already have a good one.

And I thought at 30 percent of the gross my drivers were underpaid

one of the things lease operators should know, when you get a percentage (Prime)is that the load was brought thru prime inc, swold to prime logistics, who sold it to prime brokerage, who sold it to your planner and you get 72% of that
not just prime, they all do it -
With each example, with each progressively paying more, they also carry more financial responsibility. That $1500, you also have to pay for EVERYTHING yourself, so how much of it is left for profit?Toomanybikes Thanks this.
