I don't know where you get your information, but that's not how it works at Prime. I'm leased on there, have friends that use the brokerage and have never seen them get more than me. Aside from all the crap you hear about em, they have some very good rates. That's why I stay here. If they sent a load out from NC-NY that paid the truck $500 it would probably never get moved.

My brother, who has years expereince, get 25% off the top. I just started with 18% AFTER 25%(fuel) is deducted. This is the worst money I have made is over a decade. What a guy won't do to get that 1 year of experience.

i bank everything, except for life's necessities

such a load would cost me a bit less than 300, on paper i am supposed to put 25cpm for the truck

i would give the truck 500 and pocket the rest

At 30 percent of the gross you can tell we don't pull cheap loads. Even the oversized and livestock end of this business is starting to feel the effects of wannabe's cutting the rates. The thing about livestock is let them get a dose of it, loose several or heaven forbid a load. Makes what we quote seem cheap then most know that. I can't say for the oversize, I stay with what I know oversize ain't it. I move equipment around the house with a 50 ton detach but that doesn't mean I know about pulling oversize freight.

Haha!!! That's some funny stuff right there!! The company doesn't get to put the 1100 in their pocket any more than an O/O, social security, driver taxes, truck taxes, shop expenses, maintainence expenses, driver wages, fuel, employees insurance, workman's comp all have to come out of that 1100. All an O/O puts in his pocket is the wage he pays himself. Everything else stays in the truck account.

    sorry, gunk, i disagree

when i say, the company gets it, in other words, its their money to do as they please, just like the OO can do as he pleases with it

whereas the company driver, the lease operator get buttkiss, out of the deal

they make money, but their work is not rewarded the same

even the company driver who gets the $150, he has to pay bills at home

all of us have expenses, mega, company drivers, OO's, but its the revenue that gives you more mobility

increased risk, and increased costs need increased revenue, but should result in increased profit

thats the way the world has worked from day one

like i said, if i am out here working, i demand to get the lion share of the money

not everyone agrees, such is life

Well that is the magic question isn't it?

The thing is the company that is moving the freight is most likely paying nearly the same no matter who moves it. Who gets the cut of the pie is always the big question.

There are some losers in the game. The fleecers are the ones who comes to mind. You usually can tell when you hear them talk about how much they earn with out any clue how much their expenses are.

If you're a company driver, find a company that pays percentage. The only way to make money if you don't want to invest in your own truck.
