ego is the driving force for almost all of a man's decisions in life

wisdom is what guides that force

Like I said you have a good observation there. It is just all the answers that one needs is not that simple, people are not honest with them, and every other driver looks at them differently.

I'll accept that, EZX, but without the wisdom, men become fools and their families pay a heavy price.

Sometimes it is not worth the effort to teach people. Sometimes there is too many problems involved and the 'teaching' moment is lost on the dollars people think they deserve just because they own the truck.

No matter, since I got into this as a business I have seen some pretty smart people fail while seeing some pretty dumb people just hold on.

Really sorry to burst your bubble but whoever ( the carrier, the o/o or the company driver) you are always the bottom of the logistics food chain and will be treated as so. So trust me when I say...someone is always in your pocket.

the funniest thing about this thread is the sheer fear and negativity

grown men comfortable owing their soul to the company store

    or

people demanding you have a masters in accounting

    then

speak to russians, africans, albanians, arabs, all one truck/trailer owners with their authority for 2-10yrs, and would never go back to working for someone else

we lost the plot somewhere down the line

Ok, EZX, let's get back to the topic---
Yes, we should all be grateful that there is still an industry where one can be their own man.

But I would disagree that y'all are doing the same work. O/O's have all the phone calls and paperwork, and headaches, while a company guy has planners and driver managers to deal with all that, plus the accounting departments, etc.
