Ive never tried epoxy but it should act as another layer of insulation since it’s not metal like JB weld or an aluminum band?

JB weld is just thickened epoxy. Sandblast the area that needs to be repaired if you can. The pores do wonders for bonding the epoxy.
Personally I would drop the tank and do the soap detection method and have it tigged.

I think they were 2 1/4 inches where everyone else uses 2 inches?
I know 2” is available everywhere. The stuff for international I could only find at international.singlescrewshaker, Rideandrepair, tommymonza and 2 others Thank this. -
Forgot to mention that when I had the new king pin put in the trailer I moved it from 30” to 18”. Gave me another foot of front overhang. I had about 2’ on the edges before so now I got 3”.
I also bought some angle and will be moving the 5th wheel slider back 16”. I can then run the 5th wheel in the middle of the slider instead of all the way at the back of the slider. So if it’s nessasary I can get over 4” of front overhang if I need and still be able to slide it forward enough to get the front axle to 12k. Full of fuel I’m at a little over 11k already so only needs about 6” forward of center with a full load to get to 12k.
I usually don’t haul anything all that long but did run about 6 loads a couple months ago of some 61’ stuff at max weight. Good paying and only 40 miles round trip. No permits needed up to 10’ rear overhang but I was right there and worried about damaging the headache rack. What I did on my haul road tanks was to weld a 1/8 X 4 inch band around the tanks, or rather had my son do it. He probably done 12 to 15 other oo's trucks after I had him do mine.
My 97, 9400 was probably the most trouble free and profitable truck I have ever owned, plus the way they are layed out inside, they are one of the most comfortable over the road trucks for the older trucks, in my opinion.
The ride is better than most, I ran rough roads and changing the sleeper shocks every year or so made a world of difference.
I bought the parts to use those polishing disc at iowa 80, I had the disks for probably a year or more and tried everything to use them before I finally found the correct kit for them.
I also use the da like you have, but never knew I could get any finer grit discs for it, where online did you find it?
I was glad to see you put an original seat back in yours, I have the nice swivel seats in mine, and tried to price new ones at many international dealers, all any of them wanted to do was sell me something aftermarket they had on the floor. I finally had to put mine in the shopin Anchorage Alaska, because I broke one of those special tank bolts and had no way to get the broken bolt out of the T, and they didn't have a new T for the strap, While they were replacing it, I was shooting the bull with the partss manager, and he said he could get me the correct seat, for 450 out the door, but it would take 2 weeks, perfect I was headed to Tx and back in 2 weeks, ne also got me new pads and upholstery for the passenger seat for something like 160 bucks. Some body ask earlier why the original owner kept the truck 6 years after they quit running.
Well why not. It has been longer than that since I have hauled a load with my 3400, and folks try to buy it regularly. I do keep crank and run it down the block a few times a year.
My thinking is, all I could get out of it would be 15,000 max. Not that would not look good sitting in the bank, but if I ever need it, I could make that in two weeks with it, so why sell it for no more than I could run it two weeks and make anyway.
My other though was if I never use it again, I and I live long enough to retire, just put a single axle rear under it and use it to pull a fifth wheel around the country, it would be worth more to me for that use than what I could get out of it..Tug Toy, singlescrewshaker, Coffey and 4 others Thank this.
