How does ltl work
-
Freight is delivered and picked up everyday during business hours by daytime drivers known as P&D or city drivers. They are usually small shipments which need to be consolidated with other shipments in order to fill up trailers.
After making pickups, those drivers return to their terminal where the dock workers will sort the freight according to where it is headed.
Nighttime drivers (for the most part), known as linehaul, will shuttle the freight between terminals until the freight eventually makes it to its destination terminal where a daytime driver on that end will deliver it to the receiver.
There is very good money in LTL, both for P&D and linehaul drivers.Puppage Thanks this. -
