I'm curious if you still have the same input of buying a new truck, being that they're 250k nowadays

Considering I have 2 being built next week then my answer would be yes. Although they are 20k higher then the 155 I paid just 6 months ago and 30k higher then just 1 yr ago. If anyone wants to buy one for 250k then it’s something we could discuss.

    Diligent_Transport and Siinman Thank this.

So had a couple of intersting opertunitys pop up. I can either buy a brand new western star 49X with delivery in either april or september depending on which slot i buy for $190K delivered with taxes included. I am already pre approved provided i can pony up a 25% down payment. Or i can buy the 379K i drove for bones for 125K with only 100k on the rebuild and 800k miles that i know needs a bit of work and had some cosmetic damage but is a solid workhorse.

Im honestly a bit torn. On the one hand a DD16 560 horse 2050 torque 3.55 geared westy would be an absolute monster and will beat the socks off the pile of shi....
errr the rig i currently have.....but it does have emissions so ehhhh. On the other hand square nose pete with a cat that ive wanted a version of since i was 4. And a 379K with a 6nz at 550 aint a bad rig plus no emissions ########.....though its a little on the worn side for 125K and im notnsure just how fair the price actully is....still not 100% sure ill get either and its not too late to back out and go with plan A of rebuilding the bullfrog to limp by until im much better off.....but im blowing through almost 5k a month on average between payments maintaince and repairs on this rig so something needs to give. Right now even with the costs im stable and making cash but i really am getting #### sick of 3K+ in repairs a month and the #### yellow or red lights of doom every few weeks that herild another 4 or 5k spent.

What do you folks think? I didnt listen last time and i regreted it big time. So i think ill be smart and ya know maybe listen this time.

125k for that 379 is way too much, don’t care if it does have only 100k on the rebuild it’ll nickel and dime you constantly. I’m not against a guy buying what he wants to drive cause that’s the joy for some of us to be truck owners, but find one that is priced accordingly.

The used truck market prices are dropping. Be patient. They want way to much for that 379.

New, New, New..... I did it 10 months ago with 2 brand new trucks - I'm never going to go back to the nickel and dime'ing of older trucks....so much so, I have 2 more brand new truckings coming in January.

If you can set your "pride" aside with what you "want" you'll be happier man with the money that you'll keep in your pocket long term.

And enjoy the financial commitment of 5 years of monthly payments in the 3k range and probably 14 or 15% interest on that commitment.. and who knows what interstate will be 9 mths from now when that truck shows up I promise you 1 thing it won't be lower.. also
Not really sure how you put more $$$ in your pocket...
Plus he said he has to pony up 25% for down money so he has to start setting that aside .. that's roughly 45k
