The maxxforce 13 seems to be fine,i dropped 2 liters from my DD15 I had in my Freightliner so im still adjusting to the difference in power and also coupled to the 10 speed,on the "Jake" well that took some experimenting, with it on its pretty much useless in the highter gears(9th&10) so a lil more "road/situation" planning will suffice i guess,I sort of had to go back 10 or more years and remember the Jake for a 11 liter engine and its parameters and capabilities and apply it here now

MaxxFOrce 13 is set at a straight 450 hp setting,so your getting 450 all the time, the 10 seems to degrade the powerband but i think its just me being spoiled with a 13 for so long(Would love to have seen what a "Super-10" in this set up would be like)

Herb,,well he has achieved "Ghost Status" since the merger,,,he is rarely seen or herd from like before, too many "rumors" of him to post them all LOL

Well its been 6 months, lot of different loads and locals i have encountered,so with that being said lets talk Pros and cons

PRO's: Prostar is a very stable and reliable platform, only 1 issue so far was today with the seal seeping on the spin filter, took to IH deal in Greensboro,10 min fix, again i am totally amazed how quiet this truck rides and how it blocks outside noise, fuel mileage is ranging 6.5 to 7.8 constantly so im happy with that, after 70,000 miles only 1 screw has come out of the overhead and I lost my light above my desk last night(just robbed the bulb from the upper bunk so no biggy)

CON's: Only big issue at first was the railstops on the curtains, they fell out and my curtains would work their way out of the rails(My fix: took a glad hand seal and cut into 1/4's,just enough natural bend in it ,so when i put in the rails, walla stops that wont fall out,my only other gripe was the selection of how they stacked the center of the dash(btw that is not my dash) but the basic set up is the same,if i could i would have the radio on top(as I constantly frig with it(no I dont like the steering wheel controls),

I made a qualcomm stand out of a Laptop stand I purchased from Family Dollar and a couple of L brackets and a few bungee cords$20 cost but now priceless LOL

    MaxxForce 13 liter
Its a 13 liter(which is a downgrade in power from what we have been used to at CFI) but after getting used to the powerband and its restrictions im very comfortable with it,it has adeqaute pull(but I bet if we had gone with a 13 speed if would have better matched the engine than the 10)
JAKE BRAKENo it doesnt have a "Jake" but it does have a exhaust brake, coupled to a 13 liter engine, ive herd all the complaints, but it all comes down to driving the truck the way its intended to,case in point,,Silverthorn Mine In Silverthorn Colorado, mention this place and you will get a full range of stories,it is located just west&north of the Eisenhower tunnel,at around 10,000 feet of elevation,we pull in excess of 44,000 out of there everyday,i had literally no problems holding the truck on the down grades with little input on brakes relying on engine brake,

Overall im satisfied with my company truck,

Looks just like mine with the wood grain dash.
The front curtains do suck....mine fell out of the tracks too.
I used some plastic body clips in the holes and problem solved.
The magnet on them sucks though.

My ISX gets 5.9 to 6.3 but i have a habit of running 75-80 mph...

On the new Pro-stars, do you have problems using the bunk heater, because the batteries go low too fast? I end up idling and it is killing my fuel milage.:biggrin_25520:

I had it into international but they were stumped. It has something to do with the qualcom running and other things not shutting down. Wish I could take off to have it fixed. but I think it would take a week.

Is this a problem with actual weak batteries, or is the load shedding feature kicking in? Load Shedding turns off most non-essential circuits to protect the batteries from becoming too low so the engine can still start. Load shedding is over aggressive and cuts out too many circuits IMO. It also seems to kick out at a voltage that is still rather high. So we get lots of complaints about it. Load shedding can be programmed out if you like, or you can bypass it by a simple cable reconnect. There is a relay used for Load shedding in behind the center console/dog house in front of the shifter. This console is also the cup holder right below the heater controls. The relay looks somewhat like a starter solenoid. One main cable has battery power on it. The other cable goes up and supplies power to the "non-essential" circuits. To bypass it all you need to do is remove one cable and simply bolt it on the stud of the other cable so now both cables are bolted together.

How long does it last? Mine will go for 7 or 8 hrs. Does the heater shut down? Or does the low voltage alarm on the dashboard sound?
