Marketing speak. Quadcore processor is good to have. But consume power and generate greater heat over dual core and single cores. I run a 6 core in this computer these days. (i7 3930)

The one thing about this new advertised product is low clearances? I don't see anything about that.

I will be curious if the new one holds up better than than 730. I went with the Garmin 770 because everyone, yes I mean everyone I know with a RM has had problems with them locking up. Not once has my Garmin locked up. I will say I did like the RM better for the user friendliness it has from what I seen on my friends. I think the RM also finds places on country roads better than Garmin. I do like the way the Garmin tracks IFTA info and the routes you took. It would work for an IRP or IFTA Audit. Where the RM didn't look like it would. Wonder if the 740 will. I will wait and see the reviews after it's been out for a while, I would like to try one tho, but another $400 when my Garmin is still perfectly fine, can't justify it. If they could combine the best features of RM and Garmin, that would be a perfect GPS unit IMO

Everyone is who? There is a Support Thread here...

The RM does track IFTA miles if you set your preferences to... It shows dates/states/toll/non-toll.

Everyone I personally know that has one is the "who". People I trust the opinion of. I'm Not basing it off of forums and outside reviews, but personal experience info from them. The people I know, have since went to Garmin bc they got no support from RM, other than "send it in and we will try to fix it. Then they don't have their GPS. that being said, I was just stating that I hope the 740 is better. As I also said, I like the user interface with RM better when I played around with their RM, but the reliability of the Garmin is why I chose it. Why can't people be honest about the short comings of products they support. I shouldn't have to have an extensive help forum to use the product. If there is an extensive forum for help, why don't they fix the issue so one is not needed. Anyway, I'm not bashing RM or Garmin. Just pointing out the short comings. RM is better with finding country roads that aren't on the Garmin. Rm is more accurate with scale houses. I can't say good and bad about them both. As far as the IFTA reporting, my friends that did switch, said that the RM doesn't report like the Garmin does. I have to take their word, bc again, I have never owned an RM. If I wanted to spend $400, I would buy the new RM and run it side by side to compare. But I really see no point in that, as the Garmin does what I need it to do. If and when my Garmin goes out, maybe then will I try a RM, if I see they have fixed the know crashing problem. Which is probably inferior hardware or memory issues. I don't know for sure, you tell me why they freeze or crash or won't boot up. I'm not trying to start a war or bash fest. I would just like to see quality products for us professional drivers.

Eh, I like my 730. Easy enough to plug in to my laptop and update every once in a while.

It does lock up. Has happened on numerous occasions. Usually it's on a multi stop long route if I tell it to search for some point of interest and then try to exit. It gives up. Or it will stop searching a hundred miles in and just sits there. But still decent. Doesn't take much to restart it.

One thing I don't get is the purpose of this "magnetic mount". Especially with over the air updates. My 730 almost never comes out of the truck. Last time it got moved was when I got the windshield replaced lol. Why would you want to take it off the mount constantly, especially if it doesn't need to be taken off for updates?

I've had one of the old garmins and didn't like the interface. I'm now on my second Rand McNally product, first being the tnd720, and now to 730. I'm happy with both. As for the locking up, I quickly leaned that the RM is flash memory and after so many days that flash memory gets used. Just shut the GPS off and clears out the memory, system works fine. Seeing how I disconnect my batteries when I'm on home time, I don't have to worry about remembering to shut it off
