I doubt he has. After spending a few hundred dollars on a nice radio, he probably wouldn't want to either. If he hasn't done it already, I would recommend that he turns the power down to its lowest setting. I would think that would be easier than swapping radios, and it would give him the same results. Then key the Mic and watch the truck lites and GPS. I think it's just putting out too much RF for the trucks electronic system. But I could be wrong. Plus with these newer trucks, bonding is the first step to make the antenna system work properly.

I am sticking to what I said, this sounds like a Leakey coax or common mode current. the cutting of the coax without confirming the multiplexer is in place and just the leakage in the radio could be the only issue ==== but what do I know??

Yes sir, I agree. It's definitely a CMC issue.

Edit: I need to correct my first post. It looks like the 90 - 100 watts peak power is in FM mode. This radio doesn't have SSB, my mistake.

I'm thinking about trading my 497hpc to a radio with less wattage and see if it fixes the problem. I would probably try it out first before trading it in. Or i can just replace my eld to motive. I'll keep you guys updated.

So i went to a different cb shop and let them run a direct wire to the battery and they put the coax cable to where it was from a T split to now a single coax with dual cables. But the problem is still there gps on my eld still losing signal. downgrading my radio to a less wattage or replacing my eld are my next option. I'll keep yall posted.

Okay tnx for the update. I don't think you need to down grade radios, unless you want to. Your radio has an RF power knob. Since you were just at a cb shop, that would have been the perfect time to test it. The tech could have put a power meter in line and with the Mic keyed, lower the power on the radio down to its lowest reading. If you lower the power down to 4 watts (the radio should go that low), and it's still interfering with the ELD, than a different radio won't help. Unless your new radio has a loud and proud tune (basically a splatter box), than that would be a different story.
