    Hello,

I've just gotten my CDL and need OTR experience. Is it possible to find an owner/operator looking for a partner? I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

I don't think many o/o would trust a newbie driving their truck, considering everything is on them when something breaks. Try some otr team companies.

yeh, it's possible, just ask around. although the company for which they pull might not allow it.

Same old story . Not so much the carrier as the insurance company . Wannabes have to realize policies for O/O's are likely more restrictive than they are for large carriers .

Congratulations on the CDL. Did you complete a training program with a school?

An experienced owner/operator who has their authority, a good driving record and is in a good location will pay about $5,500 a year for insurance.

When he adds a driver with no experience he will likely pay $3,000 - $4,000 more. In addition, he is usually limited to a 500 - 700 air mile restriction on operation. Repairs can easily run $2,000 to $5,000 each.

If you were an owner/operator would you be looking for an inexperienced driver?

If the owner/operator is leased to a company, any drivers on the truck will have to qualify based on about the same qualifications a driver would have at that company or any other.

If you manage to find an O/O that's willing to take a random newbie in, and split the revenue with them, please let me know. Because I have never seen such a thing done.
