heres what I did in Michigan, studied and took the free fake pretests online, a lot of those questions are duplicated. after a while you will get acquainted with the correct answers. I then took the tests at the Michigan SOS (DMV) and passed them all. I would recommend taking them at least a few weeks before coming so in the event you screw one up and can retake it before rdtc starts. I also applied for swift and had to a number of pretests online for them, they were all accompanied by videos. All Free. I also recommend getting your states cdl manual and reading the appropriate portions in their entirety.

if i recall correctly, yes... general knowledge, combination vehicle, and air brakes. I did not mess with the tanker, hazmat, etc.. Technoroom who was in our class and drives flat took the time to get those. I have not needed them nor even been asked about them. They seem to have more than enough general van cargo to keep us busy.

I did get a passport card (for driving over the border) which can keep you moving and put an extra $50 in your check when you cross the border, even passing through.

I have my passport card along with my passport, DOT physical for 2 years out of the way and need to pass the ohio permit before I can go to RDTC. The OSU how did you study for Ohio's permit? I know I need 3 sections but may just take them all while there. I was told $27.00 for the permit. Does it cost more to get the other endorsements.

For your learner's permit all you need is General Knowledge, Combination Vehicle and Air Brakes. In Minnesota (my home state) at least, those are the only tests they allow you to take for the permit. The others can be taken only for the actual CDL. Other states have different rules. (In Minnesota the learner's permit was free.)

I was told Ohio was $27.00 but I will check with the DMV direct tomorrow. Was the permit test hard? Can you pass it with common sense or do you need to memorize a lot?

I just finished my Phase 1, ready to phase 2, training in roelh is the best, harder than the trucking school, tons to learn, and to be tested, having your CDL doesn't mean you meet roelh expectations. Be fair with you and the company, don't play this is not a kindergarden, here, there are not second chances for safety, they won't think to kick you back home, but is an excellent opportunity, they take really care of you while you are in training no negatives things to say so far :biggrin_255:

Did you have 6 people in your Phase I? Phase II is 8-13 days with a trainer OTR right? How was that for those who already finished Phase II?
