Hi, my name's amber & me and my girlfriend are going to be going to CRE Richmond, IN location. Any good things to say about them? Also, anyone who has any tips or pointers for me please feel free! We are nervous but very excited and keeping an open mind to all opinions! We will be driving as a team so one question I have is, Will we be doing OTR training with each other plus a trainer or will they seperate us?

oh no no no another one gets tricked into CR england. please with the love of all that is a trucker in you run away from them as fast as you can shift them gears lol go read the cr england dac thread..
as for training when you go out with any company you two will be split up and than come back to do a orientation and/or driving skills test and than you two will be put together as a team not sure how cre does the latter but will be along them lines

They are the only company that will accept us because of our location. We live in southern illinois and cant afford to pay for schooling through a college or anywhere else. I have read nothing but bad reviews on CRE all over this site, and many others, but its literally our only option. We are eager to get in school and get moving. I understand by going to CRE we are literally starting at the bottom of the chain here. Also, orientation is first in CRE's program, then Phase 1 & Phase 2 training.

all i can say is i wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. but that just my opinion. if this is your only chance at getting your cdl.. then go for it. but...just as soon as you finish your commitment with this.. umm umm... company ...RUN AWAY and apply to others. and please, don't fall for their lease b.s. i wish you both good luck in your new career.

what about swift? but not sure what you mean by cant afford the schooling for it isnt there a truck driving training school near you? aside from a college? many will do training on credit and there are govt loans you can get as well. sorry if you have tried ALL OTHER OPTIONS POSSIBLE just trying to save you two the pain of going through ugh cre but if you done all that you can possibly do for your area than i feel for you and do as dptrucker said get your cdl from them and start looking for another company asap and do not under any circumstances sign onto any lease program with any company ever!! no matter how attractive it looks lol.
hopefully other drivers with more knowledge of who hires out of where will let you know which companys to go to other than cre

back to original post---bieng nervous is a good thing to an extent when i went to school for driving the women were better at it than some men! most the men already knew how to drive sticks and the women didnt but they shifted way better than some of them. dont worry if you dont get your backing down during class and training it will come over time just G.O.A.L(get out and look)as much as u need to when otr, best of luck and wishes to you two if you have to go with CRE hope 2 see you 2 on the road if i get back out there lol

Hope you can find an option better than cre. I can't remember ever reading a post on this site with anything positive to say about cre. However, as already mentioned, if it's your only option, go for it. But, keep in mind as you 2 drive for the bottom of the bottom feeders the pay and crap you'll deal with is probably not honestly reflective on trucking companies. Don't get a sour taste about trucking if you have a sour experience with cre. Especially since you've been forewarned about the company. They are not all like cre.

Best of Luck to both you and your girlfriend! I hope you have a most excellent adventure with it all!!!!

Just because they "accept" you for training doesn't mean they won't reject you at orientation or by the trainer . Then you each owe them thousands of dollars for useless training because they won't give you a certificate . Rejection rate is high . Two people going in as a team are at great risk of one or the other failing .
Find another career option and save yourself a lot of grief .

If CRE doesn't work out for you, check Central Refrigerated. This company trains teams to work together. Best wishes to you both.

I appreciate everyones feedback. I tried several other companies and they won't take my girlfriend because she has a felony on her record. It was 10 years ago, and she didn't even serve jail time, but most companies will not accept her for another 5 years. CRE is LITERALLY the last resort & last option. I've applied for loans, tried to recieve aid from my state, and for the loans i do not have good enough credit and for the aid it is a waiting list of two-four months.

If anyone has any good options that are in Illinois, I am open to suggestions. I probably have already tried them, but there may be some I do not know of. I live in the Southern part of Illinois. & Chinatown, they will not accept us because we are in Illinois. Illinois is a locked down state which means if you want a CDL, and are a residence of illinois, you must obtain your CDL through a school in Illinois. CRE is the only exception to that rule, because their company has some sort of contract here in Illinois which makes the CDL transferrable.
