I flip steer tires all the time. Never had an issue in 35 years being an O/O. Not including being a Company driver equals to almost 39 years of driving commercial before that.

Yep, never had any trouble swapping steers.
There is an old wives tale that has been around forever, that tires have to run the same direction that they started out life in (radials) but think about all the used tires that have been sold without a mark on them.
I would not consider any TA or loves a tire shop, maybe for an emergency, but any tire shop should be a better deal for a set of tires.
I have to do a little tire shopping in the morning myself. -
When steel radials first came out for cars, recommended rotation kept same direction. Later they started crossing fronts to rear, rears straight to front.Maybe it was just a wives tale, I always thought the technology had improved. I still don’t change direction if tires been repaired. I just had Loves put a plug/ patch on a Michelin trailer tire, had a big 1/2 “ bolt through it, 2” from sidewalk. Hopefully it won’t blow out. Plug keeps water out, and belts from rusting. Still a broken strand on a steel belt sets it up for failure. They still shift quite a bit, especially after 4-5 yrs. Happened to Me on a low mileage car I bought, 30 k 6 yrs old, both steers and they were Michelin’s.

On cars it is easy enough to rotate and keep them running the same way if a guy wants to, but like I say, used tires are sold every day, and are seldom marked. I think there might have been something to it when they first came out with radials, but that has long since been changed. I don't know if it was ever true for truck radials, but may have been in the beginning, I know we didn't run them on steer axles for several years when they first came out.

Michelin steers still have a directional arrow on them. I’m told it doesn’t matter, after it’s been ran a while. I keep it in the right direction just in case, ( used tires on trailer). Lol
