    Not surprising
It's always been that way. All for good reason.

Your so right and more. And now that I have made a bunch of money with the Hino it is time to upgrade. Now I'm currently building a custom 9 car stinger with a 100" sleeper so I'm selling the 96' Hino sleeper truck and the trailer I built to go behind it. I know this is not a truck for sale thread but now that I said it is for sale I can imagine somebody is bound to ask about it so... I have a website page dedicated to the sale of the truck and trailer. Over 200 pictures and pages of description and details. www.Rides4Wheels.com

It still amazes me that people will spend $50-60k (or more!) for a new dually and $15-25k for a basic trailer and in a year the dually is all but worn out and their investment of almost $100k is worth less than half of that when instead they could get a rig like mine (for way less than half of the other deal) made for the long haul, be much safer, less breakdowns and overall maintenance and a huge sleeper instead of a back seat. I just read a thread where a guy spent $20k to add a 28" wide sleeper to a dually. That's $80K for a dually?!? Oh well.. to each his own I guess... LOL..

I'm thinking that it's probably about what kind of a license is required to drive those smaller trucks versus the bigger trucks.

Hello. My husband used to car haul for himself back in the late 90s.we have a Ford F350 dually n p tag. R in the process of checking into getting a 3-4 car hauler trailer to pull from Big Meinhein auction in Darlington SC ,Jacksonville Fl,also possibly haul campers and or freight. Not sure but Looks like it may b less expensive to do the campers n freight 1St to get some more $$$ made for the car hauler trailer. Not sure. Seeing Alot of CM n US DOT #s also insurance confusion. Just asking for some advice. He does not have cdl n is only looking to haul used cars from auction mainly. We do Not mind the being away from home. We just need some Good advice. Thanks

What you asked is like me asking Rachel Rae, "I want to cook dinner, maybe chicken or fish, or maybe steak and then lasagna, how do I do it and I hear there is a lot of confusion over gas or electric stove"

Your going to need to do 1 of 2 things.
    1) ask SPECIFIC QUESTIONS that we can answer 1 at a time.
    OR
    2) hire someone with experience to act as a consultant. This person should be familiar enough with the particular segments of trucking that your interested in to properly advise you as to the differences in the kinds of freight you mentioned hauling, various insurance issues, licensing of you and the truck and even how to structure the company, (sole proprietor, LLC or what).

My personal advise would be to carefully read this entire thread and then seek someone to hire to guide you through all of what your trying to do. It needs to be super expensive but a few hundred invested in that consultant could save you tens of thousands in mistakes.

Sure you can do it on your own but if you invest in the wrong equipment for the kind of freight you intend to haul, well that 1 easy to make mistake can cost you the entire business. And that is but 1 of dozens of questions you face.

Or you can surf the internet and listen to 500 strangers who you have zero idea of their qualifications tell you based on a paragraph that you posted how to run your own unique business that they really know nothing about..

    Your call...

    Good luck!
