Ask to see thier billing invoices as this is what you legally are allowed access to as a percentage paid employee. If they baulk at that got to the state labor board.

I was told 27% of the load. Understanding, of course, that loads were variable. I assumed that I would be told how much any particular load was, and then be paid 27% of that. Instead, they're essentially saying that they're not allowed to tell me the load cost because there's potential for rival companies to find out how much the company bid on that load. So then, no driver is told how much they'll be paid for any load at all, ever. I was told that the drivers are happy with their paychecks, so no one really cares. Which is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. How could anyone plan for the future, or even the next week. How do you know you're being paid correctly? Payroll is handled by humans. Seemingly, incorruptible, divine humans that don't make mistakes, and to question them is to invoke the wrath of God.

That's exactly what I was going to do. Thank you very much for your input. I appreciate the advice.
