Ok gang,
I'm out here in the desert right now, pulled over. I measured what Rabbi asked me to measure and here are my results...
1st measurement in picture is 1.4 ohms
2nd measurement in picture is open
3rd measurements in picture is open
I also checked the swr with the internal meter and reads as follows.
Ch.1 - 1.46
Ch.40 - 1.93
Btw.. i should add that the last adjustment made before contacting you guys was to put the antenna all the way in.

I wonder if that antenna is constructed like the Wilsons, whereby some tests that would indicate a dead short are not valid in regards to the test indicating a problem.
About the SWR values, they are coming into the ballpark. They seem to indicate that the antenna could stand a little trimming. -
You know, it's obvious the OP is not a CB guru like others here. So, what does he need to do to fix it? He knows he has a problem or that it's not where it should be. He came here for help, so help him or don't post at all. Some of you just want to sit on your keyboard and tell everyone else their stupid. Meanwhile your not telling him how to fix it.
To the OP you may just want to find a more reputable CB shop near you. I don't think you are very confident in the shop that did your setup. There are a few threads here on the best and worst shops across the Country. I wish I could tell you exactly what's wrong and how to fix it. But, I can't I'm just one of the dummies around here. I can only give you the simple, common mistakes that are often overlooked.
Best of luck to you.Ca17cer Thanks this. -
OK OP, you did all of this work, but reading all of your posts I feel the Antenna Analyzer (AA) is the best indicator of what's what.
It interjects a signal and a computer is what is telling you what the SWR is.
so I would tend to lean toward the AA more than the radio because there are sometimes inherited flaws in the radio that isn't corrected with the circuity. Using an external meter is an option but then also if it confirmed the meter reading on the radio, then the AA has to be out of wack.
I don't think the ohm meter thing is really revealing anything, it is unlikely that anything is defective with <2:1 SWR. If it is open, then it is ok, if there is anything that moves it to zero ohms, I would worry. For those who think it is shunted, simply unscrew the antenna and see what the meter reading is.
SO if I was you, I would go back to the place, ask them to again to hook just the antenna up to show you what's what, and take pictures of the results to show us what is going on, you can have them see what the other measurements are with that antenna.Ca17cer Thanks this. -
Unless I missed it, you haven’t mentioned if you tried talking to anyone. Like some mentioned, don’t get hung up on the radios internal swr meter because they aren’t very accurate as a rule. If you can talk to somebody 3 or 4 miles away (or more), then your radio and antenna is probably fine. If you can’t talk or hear more than a few blocks away, then there is a problem.Tombstone69 and Ca17cer Thank this. -
Ok gang,
Quick update. I was able to talk to someone, but I didn't get a location from him. Also, I'm going to have to wait a while before I can drive and fiddle with the tuning. I was in an archery tournament this past Sunday and my arrow blew up while I fired my bow. 3/4 of the arrow went towards the target and the last 1/4 drove into my hand.
Thank You all for Your help. I will be posting any updates as the capabilities come back and/or I can get some friends to help out in the tuning process. Again, Thank You all for the advice and eye opening quirks of CBing. -

That's the best way to see if it works, holler out and see if anyone can hear you. If noone hollers back, you've got a problem, if someone gets back to you, ask them how it sounds." Break channel(or breaker 1- 9) can I get a radio check, anyone got a copy, c'mon", or "how bout it, anyone got a copy on this here radiddio", or anything cool like that.Ca17cer Thanks this. -
Unless the radio sounds like absolute crap most will say its workin or sounds good even if it doesnt....
If possible ask someone you know...I hear tons of people askin for radio chks and say its good when it sounds like you know what..Be creative when you ask..Ca17cer and Tombstone69 Thank this. -
Only a JO would tell you it's working when it's not.People like that are the reason people don't use them anymore, too many A-holes on the A-waves.
