Get a local job. There are companies that will hire u right out of school. @Chinatown should be around in a bit to give you some idea who to look at.

The most you can ever possibly make with Northern Refrigerated is about $20/hr straight time. They used to pay 25% AGR but now it's like $12 an hour plus milage plus a flat rate per stop. It's not very competitive for experienced drivers but they are decent for a new guy. Their recruiter's name is Bill Wall, and I can fill you in on the road test a little bit if you want to private message me. I don't know anything about DOT Foods.

Instead of going with those companies, you might want to give Antonini a call and haul tomatoes this season. You'd be home every night and could get enough experience in 3 or 4 months, to go land a secure job. That's how I got my start, hauling grapes seasonally.

This assumed you were close to Turlock CA by the way. I thought you might be since DOT and Northern both have terminals close to each other.
