Just bought an ‘87 379exhd. Trucks in pretty decent shape. 3406c, 13 against the dash, 4:25 rears, 3rd lift axle, small flat top bunk, 285”wb, wet kit.
I know, you’re saying “4:25 rears, what the crap? Well it’s a double od and it’s got a 16’ dump bed on it. Anything in particular good or bad about a ‘87 379?

    Coffey Thanks this.

We have an unwritten rule here. No talking about old iron without associated pictures. ;)

First I was like, that bed or that bunk, is outta place. Me too, never seen a boxed out, flat top Pete dump truck. It grew on me. Lots of dump trucks in my area and no boxed out ones. If the bunk was any bigger, it may look like ####, but things grow on me. Least there’s no having to alter your stacks for bed clearance, with the bunk. If I want or need to, I can remove the bed in a little more than an hour. Put a 5th wheel on in another hour or so. Not that big of a job.

    motocross25 Thanks this.

Yea dude absolutely. The more I look at it the more I like it. Hell if nothing else that little bunk is more room to throw stuff in. Coats and tools and safety triangles and what not. Yea it’s rad, I like it. Great find thanks for sharing.

My apologies it’s not a 3406c but rather a 4MG, B model. This is my first Cat engine in my own truck. Rest of them are BCIII 400, SC290, N14 Celect and 12.7 DDEC2.

Brettj3876 and MACK E-6 Thank this.
