Where are you in Montana? I live here, and while I am not the encyclopedia for what you are doing, I know some smart old timers

Appreciate the offer, I may take you up on it.

It's pretty easy to find good mechanics that know the DI A model and B models like the back of their hand, but I have yet to run across anybody that knows anything and has anything god to say about the 1693's. Talked to T&E in Great Falls as I have had good luck on older equipment before, but the old 1693 was just too old.

Never had any luck with T&E in Billings, what truck shops or local guys should I be talking too?

Townsend - just south of Helena. I would like to get a hold of an old timer that knows these just to talk to and pick his brain for awhile.

wore out and Oxbow Thank this.

Let me ask a friend of mine if he is familiar with 1693/1674 engines. If so I'll get you guys together for a phone conversation. I know he has worked on D343s a lot.

I wonder if Cat shop manuals are still available.

Not sure on shop manuals for sale, but I looked up a 65B truck prefix 1693 and all info is on SIS.

I have one in the Mechanics truck. A bunch called Ozark Sand close to me bought an old dredge with a D343. No body in the country had been around one. The CAT field tech gave them my info on the down low. A few calls to an old friend of mine that's since past and that manual of Dad's we had her ginnin.

SAR, 1972RedNeck and Oxbow Thank this.

For everything I am concerned with, a D343 should be the same I think?

Just bought a used one off Ebay for $39.99 to my door.
