Maybe the 1693 came from a dozer?

Doubtful, pretty sure Cat equipment got the D343 and not the 1693.

Missing one number in S/N. 65B is correct prefix, need five numbers after it.

Don't think so on this old of engine - from what I have found, they started at 65B1 and went to over 65B11000.

Anyways, Cat said it's a good number, they did some digging and said that my engine is a 9L5163 arrangement which matches what the parts book says it should have.

I think there is supposed to be a 0 after the 65b. If you punch it into cat parts it auto adds the 0.

Cat's weird with some stuff. When they refer to a S/N by XXX1-up I seem to recall they mean it as XXX00001 and up.[/QUOTE]

If you puch it into Cat parts, it comes up with nothing either way.

Well, I can guarantee you that the number stamped on the tag is 65B4940 - nothing more, nothing less.

    D343s had a different prefix of 33B, the 65B is for a 1693.

There are many old engines that SIS cannot pull the arrangement number for, they do not have the original as shipped information for them.

    Will do.

Talked to Cat some more today about the 500 HP data plate that I posted earlier - they are saying it doesn't exist so I sent them a picture. Haven't heard back yet.

Mainly just trying to get a few part numbers for it to see if the pistons, injectors, oil cooler, etc, are the same as mine. If they are, I might be brave enough to take mine to the 475 - 500 HP range when the time comes.

Anyone have a suggestion where I could pickup a JWAC for this thing? Holst truck parts in ID has just about everything and if they don't have it, they know where to get it but they didn't have one and had no idea where to send me.

If I could find a complete engine with a JWAC and retarder I would be willing to buy the whole nine yards...

    Oxbow and Klleetrucking Thank this.
