    (c) The following employment history information for the 10 years preceding the date the application is submitted shall be presented to the prospective employer by the applicant:
    (1) A list of the names and addresses of the applicant's previous employers for which the applicant was an operator of a commercial motor vehicle;

    So only if you operated a commercial vehicle then?

    It's better to know now then find out when you get there. My recruiter didn't tell me half this stuff and I grilled him with 100's of questions before I committed to Prime. I was just lucky I keep a digital copy of all my important documents and was able to access them from my phone and email them to the lady doing the orientation stuff. But a lot of people in orientation were spending hours on the phone trying to get someone (a friend, husband, wife, sister, brother, neighbor, or pet) to look for that stuff and either fax it or email it to them. Plus they don't tell you about the almost $1,000 in equipement you'll need to buy once you get a truck. Yes they will payroll deduct it for a few weeks if need be, but still, I would love to have known that ahead of time.

    If you are on the reefer side, they have you buy at the store the atlas ($30 something), alloy lock set w/air cuff ($115 if i remember right), pulp thermometer ($20), detention stamp (free if company (no this is not the stamp you had in highschool when you got sent to detention [emoji12])), 2 load locks ($70 each), chains for the truck and trailer (right around $500-600, less if you find used one), safety vest ($15-20), keychain/lanyard (free). I know I am missing something else as well. They give you a list once you hit orientation.

    I don't like payroll deductions, so I was pizzed off at that. I haven't purchased my chains yet, but ebay and craigslist or my friends [emoji48]

    Sorry I missed that line for some reason while I was reading it. I would interpret it that way as well, but that was the regulation the lady at orientation through at us. Even those who had never driven a commercial vehicle before. I don't know now. All I know is what they required of me when I went through orientation this past June. Could be she had no clue and was just making everyone do it. She was filling in for someone who had quit 2 weeks prior.

    Thanks Scouse13 for pointing that out. Sometimes after a long day of driving my mind likes to make blanks instead of filling in the blanks.

    well just because that is the regulation wording doesn't mean that they won't ask for 10 years of unrelated verification, that's why I am going with all the info I can just in case.

    Edit:

    McCauley I will let you know as soon as i go through the process. The recruiter has me possibly starting on the 18th.

    You wanted to look at FMCSR 391.12.

    http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/regulations/title49/section/391.21

    So 3 years of non-driving work history is required by the FMCSA, and 10 years of driving.

    I just got off the phone with the recruiter. She said that all the verification for past employment is done before they give an orientation invite. So the past 5 years that you put on the online application is all that gets verified unless you have CMV driving experience you put on that app going back 10 years. They will ask you to put down 10 years of employment history on the paper application when you get there but it will not be verified so you won't have to dig up old W2's or anything.

    p.s. I was approved to go to orientation! Just waiting for my ticket to ride the dog to start on the 18th. Any smoking trainers from the Charlotte, NC area that will be available? lol
