Its the standard version of Prime's driver orientation done in Pittston... read what's in the beginning of this thread, ignore what obviously applies to a PSD student driver on a CDL permit, and you'll have an idea of what you're in for. You start as a C-seat... I believe that's $600 per week before taxes and deductions as long as you're on the truck and available for dispatch. At the end of the orientation week you'll get assigned to a TnT trainer, and off you go. You will be subject to 40,000 miles before upgrade, and you get a boost up to B-seat after a month.

I'm not sure how sleep apnea testing will work out via Pittston... its done at the terminal if you're starting in Springfield. In general, its only done if you have more symptoms than only weight and high BMI. It does take a doctors diagnosis during the DOT physical to get you into a sleep study.

Pittston terminal does not do sleep study MO does. They will.send u out to MO to do it.but u won't get u r guaranteed funds cuz u r not available for dispatch and u have to pay for the machine and testing. The BMW index is too high. You need to be skinny in order to go by without a test for it. If u have u r cdl already u can get away with not going thru all the stuff at Springfield.

Actually that's not completely correct. You do not have to be "skinny" to avoid a sleep test. While a high BMI number is an indicator, Dr A requires that there be more indicators present than just one's weight, including neck size, throat constriction, evidence of snoring, etc. That is also consistent with the FMCSA medical advisory committee's recommendations.

In discussion with the DMV here in west plains, I do not need the DOT physical to get the permit. So I am assuming that since Prime will be giving a physical also then that will suffice for the CDL. I am going to go get my permit this Friday. Everything is falling into place. Cannot wait until 2/2/15 gets here.

I am a firm believer in our 2nd amendment rights... With that, what is Prime's policy on having a firearm on the truck or on your person for protection of self and/or others (concealed or open)? ?????

Unless it's been changed, Prime's policy is NO weapons allowed, PERIOD. Same as most trucking companies.

That said, your typical truck stop is the most heavily armed place in the area... :p

Seeing as how our current "riot-happy" nation has become, It just made me think about some of the places I might travel to....

You are not allowed to have a firearm on you or in your truck while employed or operating under Prime's authority. Most shippers and receivers do not allow firearms on their property. If you actually brandish it or use it and it becomes known to management, it's a termination/contract cancellation deal. In addition, if you are dispatched to Canada and have a firearm on you or in your truck and it is discovered by Canada's border security, plan on spending a stretch in the provincial prison.

There are a lot of local jurisdictions that have prohibitions on firearms in vehicles... IMO, its not worth the trouble.
