Oh for god's sake it will not. That is the most ludicrous thing you've posted yet. Starter companies are starter companies... you pick them for the training they provide, and your ability to not live like a slave during the year or two you spend with them... on your way to somewhere else.

Thank you, ironpony. Besides, a truck stop is about the LAST place I'd go for "research". Unless you're going to hang out there for a solid week and survey all of them, you're only going to get a couple of opinions, and that from the guys with the loudest mouths. A forum like this is a much better place - you have access to posts made for months and years back, from all sides. I wouldn't limit myself to JUST this forum, but it's so far ahead of a random truck stop that it's over the horizon.

ETA: Actually, though, he's got a point. Just not the one he thought he was making. Starter companies WILL make you or break you: if you can't manage to make it through that first year, then you don't belong in this business. Consider it paying your dues, and learning under fire. Any potential accident situation you will ever have is not going to come at you announced well in advance, so you have plenty of time to consider your options. It's going to come at you like the training you're getting in the first year. And if you can't handle that, then you won't handle the situations down the road - instead, you'll be on the side of the road, jack-knifed or rolled over.

I was thinking about going with Prime, but i am concerned of availability of a female trainers. If i go for orientation, will i have to wait weeks for a female trainer?

Ok so I talked to the Prime recruiter today and she told me to wait until after Labor Day to update my app. I hope to be there around the middle of October. I got an offer from another company but I think I will stick with Prime. And Prime just started a Military program, too cool.

If you want to wait for a female trainer you may have to wait, but that said Prime started allowing males to trainer females back in May, so if you don't have a problem with it then you could go out with a male trainer.

There is a lot of good information here and I thank you all for it. I have been sifting through this forum for a couple of days. I sent my application in the other day on line. I have been looking at a couple of companies and Prime is definitely at the top of my list. I have a question, which was probably answered already but I didn't find it. I have my CDL B with air brakes endorsement. Will I only have to take the combination test before I get to Prime's training? Also, for home time once all training is done and you have your own truck, do they have you take your truck home or park it somewhere?

As far as home time is concerned, unless you live close to a terminal, then the truck goes home with you, you will drop the trailer at a designated drop yard or shipper and bobtail home. Unless you have room to park the trailer AND you have permission to do so.

As far as the endorsements goes, contact your DMV and talk to them about it, is the info there is.
    Hope this helps you

I am new to this forum and new to trucking. I have been reading through this whole forum and it is very informative and I think Prime would be the best choice for me. This is probably a silly question but if I live in Springfield would I still be able to stay in the hotel or would they not allow that since I live close?
