My son and I work 12 hour shifts 7-7 PST no matter which part of the country we are in. When he's on it's his responsibility and I stay in back and read or surf the net. Normally we stick to 9 hours on duty/drive time a day and each person is responsible for maintaining their hours. When we switch we brief each other on what was going on, any new assignments and what we expect of the other Example- "I'm low on hours so I need 560 tonight and I'll finish the load out tomorrow...our pre-assignment doesn't P/U until ____ tonight so you'll have time to get a shower...GOOD NIGHT and drive safe". It has worked well for us!

Interesting....I don't know how people can run solo. Pay is better and very little sitting at the docks waiting on someone else. There is some compromise and there has to be good communication between drivers but in the end it's more beneficial to the bank account. I have run solo before and I liked it but spent a lot of time waiting on shippers to load the truck.

Many truck drivers have gone into the job because it is a job with long periods of solitude, being by yourself.
Eventually, driver facing cameras are going to remove a lot of that solitude from the driver.

If you think 2 in a truck is bad,
Try 6 guys in one truck, yes 6.
All seem to be from far east dissent.

I'm sorry. 6? I am somewhat homicidal sharing a space the size of a jail cell with one inconsiderate person. 6 would. .. Let's just say I'm not doing that.

Can you imagine what a joke it would be to split the load pay 6 ways?
