Hello everyone! I'm from Indiana, I've been contemplating on getting my cdl a for years now. I'm currently in search of that "perfect starter company" and let me tell you that I don't trust a single recruiter. I'm trying to find the best paid training program possible and then obviously the best pay home at least 2 days, and low cost benefits and take home truck. HAHA yes it's a lot to ask for but if I can just get a few of those from my list I'll be fine!
SO If anyone on here is from the same area and have some advice let me know, I'm looking at Carter Express, Online Transport/ Frontier, and Venture Logistics. Thanks for reading!

I think roehl pays during training now, great starter company and you can train in your home state (Gary). Millis is also a good one but I don't think they pay during training.

Yes Roehl is another I'm looking into. They don't sound too bad.

Millis is better home time

From what I saw you have to pay back the training from weekly installments. My current job on a 40 hour week I bring home 550. So in order to make the switch to trucking I need to at least make that. I can't afford too many deductions and such.

It's only $100 up front and spread it out. Unless something has changed you can get home every weekend if you want.

Ok thanks worth looking into!TROOPER to TRUCKER Thanks this.

Wow, I've been called to action!
Alright, the skinny with Millis: the first three and a half weeks are school and orientation - you don't get paid for that, because you aren't technically doing work yet. When you get on a truck with a trainer, though, you get paid for all miles run by the truck (including when the trainer drives). It's going up to .41cpm for trainees at the beginning of the year - I don't remember how many miles I did a week as a trainee, so I can't give you an idea of how much that'll be but as a solo driver I do between 2800 and 3200 on weeks that aren't hometime.
The deductions for school are $20 a week, or more if you want.
I've been late to hometime twice since July 2014, and neither of those times were because of dispatch (basically because of problems with the shippers).Freak_On_A_Leash and TROOPER to TRUCKER Thank this. -
Thanks for dropping in!
