1. Your sister books solely bottom feeder trash with Amazon.
2. Your sister is fine cutting throats, and hauling cheap freight.
3. Your sister is lying to you about the revenue. Personally, I think this is the answer. Your truck should be averaging THREE TIMES what it's making per mile right now. I believe anyone that would rake their own blood for 25% EVEN WHEN THEY KNOWTHEY'RE STRUGGLING is more than capable of lying outright to them as well.
and for her not to take the time to talk to you about this…… is very wrong. If I was in this situation I would take the bull by the horns and I would show her what I could do. WITHOUT HER.
New to trucking, just purchased my first truck, advice please?

I’d trade her in for a new one. Lol.
for real if she won’t sit down and go over numbers with you and then her keeping 25% when your struggling. That would be my incentive to go show her what you can do on your own. You do not need her numbers to run under.shooter19802003, God prefers Diesels and Lgaff Thank this. -
It's none of my business, and I'm nobody to talk, but your sister sure as hell isn't treating you like family. She's taking your investment and flushing it down the toilet. If you're failing, and she's literally running your company, she needs to fix it. Otherwise, you need to cut ties.Vampire, shooter19802003, dwells40 and 4 others Thank this. -

How much can you sell the truck for? The way your doing it isn’t making you money. Doesn’t sound like you want to drive it yourself so maybe it’s best to throw a price out and see if someone bites.

I don't want to be rude to you or insult you or anything like that, but the best thing that you can do is get rid of that truck as fast as you can. If you lose 40 or $50,000 or whatever you've lost that's nothing compared to what you're going to lose.
I'm sure you have never heard this, but there's a saying in the trucking business. If you want to have a million dollars in the trucking business, start with 2 million dollars. This business eats money even with people that know what they're doing. There is an old adage that says the more you don't know the more it's going to cost you.
I say this just being honest. You have absolutely no idea what you're doing. You have absolutely no idea what that truck is going to cost you. You have no idea what a driver can do to you when he knows there's an absentee owner that has no clue what's going on. You have no idea what the government will do to you if you don't keep your records the way you're supposed to. You have no idea of any of this and far more and on top of that... if that driver has an accident and kills someone you probably are going to have liability in that.
If you lose 50 or 60 thousand dollars be thankful that's all it is.
Truck prices are going to drop in the not-too-distant future. Immediately put that truck for sale get out from under it and just be thankful you didn't lose your home and everything else.
Get out now.RedForeman, shooter19802003, dwells40 and 4 others Thank this. -
Your sister is going to make you go broke. The only one to blame will be yourself. You have options. Her numbers are only a spec of sand on a beach but if you don’t take the initiative to do something or change this when you look in the mirror you will only have self to blame. Several people on here have gave you great advice. Like I said earlier if you contact Chinatown he always has good opinions for places drivers and truck owners can sign onto. I feel your pain. I’m sorry you got yourself into this position but now is the time to do something different. Like I said my satisfaction would be to show O’l sis how you can advance on your own. The trucking industry right now is good. It’s actually better than good and I hear after thanksgiving it’s only going to get better. There is no reason at all that you can’t make money. You are just in a position where you need guidance and now it’s what you do with our comments and recommendations. I would love to hear you turned all this around so in future please keep us posted. I wish you the very best.
