I seriously feel for you. Felons have a difficult time getting any job. What they can get, is usually dead end, nothing, underpaid, and putting up with lots of S! At least in this industry, you can work your way above that. End up quite successful.
I know. I haven't committed any crimes. I'm a good employee. I'm just older. But for employers around here... Forget it. I could go on and on. ... OTR Trucking has opened a whole new world of a decent job for me. I even had a recruiter tell me that I'm young. When I told him I'm 57.
It may be a tough at first for you. But you're going the right way. The right career. You can look forward to a decent life.
Let me just say; The trucking industry knows forgiveness. It knows that truth doesn't exist without grace. The only people who haven't ever made a mistake, or done anything wrong. Are those who haven't lived.

Low starting pay is really relative term. Its not nearly as bad as 25-30 years ago. Remember back then, like .14 cents to .18 cents per mile to start out? Nowadays even at .28-.30 cts/mi, you can make good money if you get good miles regularly. And back then megas regularly would put two guys in a flat top single bunk truck most of the time.
