I too think that free enterprise should dictate what happens in product development and our economy. Unfortunately there is too much money driving the decisions that are being made. I still think America is the best place to live but we are being aggressively pushed to become something way different than our predecessors expected us to be.

I am still REALLY unhappy that Studebaker stopped building trucks in December of 1963.
With the very latest Detroit Diesel 2 cycle 4-53 engines. -
He was told he could get a 579, and it would be built sometime next year. He ordered one back in January, and it'll be built in June or July. It's a 500 cummins with a 10spd and the 72in midroof. He ordered it for $181k, and was told if he ordered that same truck today it would be $223k!! Price went up $42k, it's crazy. (Bought the same truck for $152k about 1.5-2yrs ago)drvrtech77 Thanks this. -

If oil goes up so does everything…
Glad I got my 389. It will be a priceless piece of history. Was lucky to get mine before the digital dash, - that was what got me to pull the trigger and pick one up.drdesl, dirthaller, TheLoadOut and 3 others Thank this. -
Long as Paccar doesn't get rid of the mighty C500 I'm happy.

Trying to put as many lights as I can on it, lol, since I'm pretty sure it'll be the coolest truck I ever get to drive. Still hope to get the chance to drive a pre emissions truck with straight pipes atleast once.Vampire, drdesl, Badmon and 1 other person Thank this. -
Future's looking pretty grim to want to be an owner-operator in the future huh?
Hahahaha...a guy can dream. This sucks you-know-what. Sucks, because I love trucking, and I wanted to make a business out of it, but it looks like that'll be harder to do every day with these newer trucks...unless you buy old, but that's its own can of worms. Especially if the gov ends up banning pre-emissions engines off the road anyways, which I've heard is very possible. -
Ain't hard to retrofit a modern engine into an old truck.
Vampire and Rubber duck kw Thank this.
