I don’t think there will ever be fully electric only trucks that rely solely on the power grid. Certainly not in this half of the century.

What we’ll see is generators replace the 15 liter engine and they will power and recharge your batteries. Also the rear axles will recharge the batteries as well during times that you would normally Jake or use the brakes on hills.
This all seems much more feasible to me.

Not to mention, when would a team ever recharge?

And I see your point there. But consider a couple things. Equipment has went light years ahead to keep the operator out of the elements, pilot oil controls are much easier to pull and control than a cable operated spool. It’s all about how many feet of ditch or yards of dirt that you move in a day. Also they don’t have a chrome shop just for their ####. Now I agree that’s the petty side of the argument

No way in hell do I want to go to no power steering. Crawl through sleepers if you got one or low horse lots a gears to get the job done. However I like looking at them and hearing how them tuff sonsabitches got er done.

The whole they ain’t building no more deal really doesn’t effect me. I have become certain here lately that a new truck isn’t in my future. I also don’t think there is a cut and dry answer on new is more or less profit than older. It’s a case by case deal. Older can wear your ### out if it’s wore out. For now I do think that in my circumstances at this time my ol piece a #### is putting more in my pocket than any new one could

I'm so glad they passed the Green New Deal. Get rid of all these inefficient old outdated square trucks that spew soot all over. I cant handle it anymore. Long live automatic transmissions, DPFs and SCR!

Those things you speak of are what America great.. that's when men were men.. You Had the skill & determination to do the job.. you also learn skills and mechanical abilities .. back then you tuffed it out through the elements and conditions & when you were good at your job you were rewarded by the amount of money you made
Now days with the automation & safety features & mechanical inprovements someone can be a drooling idiot and still get a job operating the new equipment they just need to be able to turn the key and steer it..
Short version this is why we'll have couch potatoes living in their parents basement ordering door dash pizza because their on their PS 4 playing video games and don't need another skills to draw a paycheck..
This Country was built with pride & skill and the automation designed to improve things has peaked and now is slowing destroying mankind final score will be
    Technology .. everything
    Humans...........nothing

I ain’t hating on anyone who wants to run older equipment. I’m just saying. The 389 ain’t a 379. And when they came out with the 379. Folks had the same complaints. It weren’t not 359. Probably when they came out wit the 359 folks was pissed that it weren’t a 351. When western star came out with the constellation cab, folks didn’t like it because it wasn’t the heritage cab.

Now I like a pretty truck as much as the next fella. And yeah, the engineers are sorta letting us down. But, at the end of the day I wanna make as much money and be as comfortable as possible. That said I ain’t lining up to buy a cascadia.

To me more “improvements” means more fail points.

I don’t know what the hell any of this has to do with the price of rice in China. The point is. Those guys were tuff, but it was out of necessity not desire. They didn’t work that equipment because of nostalgia. That was the best they had to do the job. And in that time that was new equipment.

Yes that’s true. But when( yes I know) it’s running properly it makes for a more comfortable and more productive machine. Are they pushing new tech faster than they should? Perhaps, but that’s an argument for a different day.
