Doesn't matter if no parking signs or not. If you can't make the turn safely and still try thats on you. They should be teaching GOAL and you should follow it. If they don't fire you don't try to change jobs as this will just keep coming up stay at least a year and don't hit anything else.

Your career is not over, however do not make it a habit. If you make it to a year and this is your only blemish you’ll be in great shape to get whatever you want. Feel bad about it for the time being but get over it, it happened. Next time like mentioned throw on the flashers get out and walk it. They can wait I’ll. If you have time before hand google earth places to identify spots.

Bloomfield Twp. I-75 ramp disintegrated after tanker flipped, ignited

^^ this Happened less than a month ago, the guy survived and kept his job, wasn’t my company but I still see him at the racks

You are doing the right thing. Careless driving is one of the "serious" violations for the FMCSA. Any other in the serious category within 3 yrs and your cdl will be suspended for 90 days. So keep at that lawyer. Also can be very hard to get on with even second chance companies with that on your record.
Good that you still have a job. Probably won't get another chance with them so be careful and G.O.A.L.

what’s crazy is they had 75 shutdown that weekend and I had just been through there no more than 30 mins before him the day it happened. And yea he owned it he said he was going too fast, anytime I see the company on the highway I make sure to scoot over a lane just in case they want to get wild

and the thing is, he is.......

    1) still working there

    2) there are just as many that "want to go wild" for one reason or another.

that crap just does not impress me or make me want to look at them with delight, but rather look at them with disdain.

the anti-trucking groups can only further thier cause with such crashes, to continue to make our elected officials enact more laws, rules, etc.

in the end? the rest of you will suffer the consequences, while us retired guys will say....

    "told you so".

and ":we told you so", cuz no one in the industry really wants to get involved to clean up this mess, BEFORE the feds do......

12 years ago I was 3 months in and did something very similar. I got a good talking too from safety...put on 6 months probation and the matter was dropped. Learn from your mistake and you’ll be just fine.

I won't beat a dead horse, everyone covered that GOAL applies to turning at times. I think this is an area where companies would do well to elaborate it doesn't only apply to backing situations. I did a similar 1 in Houston as a fresh "rookie" (first week solo OTR), after a few years of doing rural work for grain harvest. I had to go to a business with roadwork at the intersection, and all other routes residential backed no truck zones. While watching traffic in front of me I off tracked and my trailer walked up a jersey barrier. Ended up braking the barrier, and destroying air hoses on a brake chamber.

We ALL screwed the pooch at one time or another, some worse than others. Don't let it discourage you, but apply the knowledge.

I’ve been in the same position as you well not with a pole but with an old veteran flatbedder in Jackson GA at that tight TA. He was a solid guy and made me move the truck after our little scrape.(trailer skirt hung up on his trailer) I was trembling a 3 month rookie and ready to quit honestly. After he got me to move the truck he asked me if I knew why he made me move the truck. I of course said no, he replied because if I didn’t get back in the saddle right after I’d carry that fear with me forever. He was 100% right, don’t let one situation define you jump back in the saddle and use this as a learning experience. If you want to do this long term it’ll be a lesson and make you a better driver in the future. It definitely made me a better driver. Of course it’d be preferred to became a great driver without hitting things... :D:D
